Saint Joseph Secondary School (SJSS) in Suva has partnered with Telecom to enhance its digital presence to better facilitate access to educational resources. Going digital will help Saint Joseph Secondary School in providing more engaging, efficient and accessible learning experience for both teachers and students.
In an effort to go digital and paperless, a tailored solution was specifically designed to address the schools needs for digital technologies with Wifi accessibility within the school premises so that students and teachers can access educational resources including learning plans, lessons videos and interactive simulations. Teachers can load their learning courses, send students quickly materials for class or exam purposes, project teaching materials on either smart screen or overhead projectors inside the classroom, and students can access these via wireless connectivity using their devices.
Telecom will provide high speed internet access to the school through its fiber network, deploy a fully managed Wi-Fi solution for seamless internet access for students and teachers throughout school premises, enable a cloud-based security solution that will ensure that the internet content is secure and appropriately filtered and unwanted sites are access-restricted. As part of the partnership, Telecom will also provide a portal to the school for easier registration of all users.
Ms Low, Principal Saint Joseph Secondary School said “During COVID there was a need to have the school’s curriculum online and with today’s advances in modern technology it is important that the school be able to provide students with access anywhere at any time, whether it be at home or at school. Now, students can use their own wireless devices to access Moodle to participate in classes and if necessary still be able to access these courses at home through this managed ICT systems. Going digital aligns with SJSS initiatives of being environmentally friends and going paperless as now resources are readily available without wastage of printed materials”.
